Welcome to Edible Goose Creek - a collective of small farmers bringing wholesome hand-cultured food to our community.

Edible Goose Creek is a dynamic collaborative of farmers and producers creating nurture, beauty, and alternative infrastructure in Bedford and the Roanoke Valley of Virginia. We create a culture of reciprocal exchange between our merry band of growers, farmers and artists, you, and other EGC members. By focusing on producing things that give us joy, we offer unique and special items to our members. By sharing our talents, skills, and ideas, we assist our community to become more resilient, self-sufficient, and JOY-full! We serve Bedford County and the greater Roanoke Valley.

We offer seasonal CSA farm shares, skill-sharing workshops, and a membership with special perks, (like joining us for on-farm potluck during the season) and more.

As a member you're investing in regenerative agriculture, sustainability, local resiliency, creativity, and community. Your support helps us continue building alternative infrastructure focused on the health, happiness, and connection of local community.

A Supporting Membership is $100 and includes:

  • 20% supporter's discount on farm shares
  • 20% supporter's discount on skill shares
  • Members only on-farm potluck gathering

The Autumn Free-Choice share lets you choose exactly what you want in your farm share AND how often you receive them. Twice per month (first and third week monthly), you'll have the opportunity to order a customized box of farm fresh goodies to pick up. Just log into our online shop ahead of time and select what you want in your share. It's up to you how often and how much you order each month. For the Autumn Share your have until Dec 3 to use your balance (sorry, no refunds). You can always top off your balance at any time. Our online marketplace is very simple to use; no credit card necessary.

You'll have all of our seasonal offerings to choose from: meat, eggs, herbs, kombucha, flowers, vegetables, soaps, salves, teas, and so much more.

This share is where you will find fresh and dried mushrooms, microgreens, tomatoes, cucumbers, salad greens, herb bundles, herbal vinegar, pesto, herb butters, pastured eggs, chicken and pork, bone broth and anything else we can think of to produce.

Receive a fresh seasonal arrangement from cultivated and foraged flowers, foliage, seed pods, berries, grasses, and serendipity! Some of these will be larger scale like when peonies are blooming and others may be petite (we love to make diminutive "faerie bouquets"). We use recycled and repurposed glass containers to hold the arrangement. All flowers are locally grown without any chemicals applied (but they are NOT edible).

Forest-Fed pigs are raised in the woods and edges of pastures where they can forage for grasses, roots, nuts, acorns, and anything else their snouts bump into. They are supplemented with GMO-free feed and moved throughout the growing season.

Our pastured chickens are raised on regeneratively grazed pasture and supplemented with GMO-free feed. We offer Freedom Rangers, New Hampshire meat birds, heritage breed meat birds and stew hens in our shares.

This is a full-sized share, one delivery per month: will most often include two whole chickens or pork roast cuts and two to four packages of pork or chicken parts per month.

Our pastured layers are tended to by our 16-year old son, Jack. Jack’s eggs are from day-ranging hens supplemented with GMO-free feed. This share can be added when purchasing a chicken or meat share. An egg share includes 2 dozen eggs once per month. You may purchase more than one share.

Our chicken bone broth is made with bones and feet from our pastured chickens. Simmered for at least 24 hours, this gelatinous broth is a great addition to soups, stews and casseroles. The monthly broth share contains two one-quart containers of frozen chicken bone broth. Ingredients: pastured GMO-free chicken bones, water.

NATIVE Natural Dyes: From the Wild to Wearable

Saturday August 31st OR Sunday September 8th. 12 pm to 4 pm.

This late summer/early autumn hands-on workshop will walk you through the dye process of 3 or 4 native plant dyes. Participants will take home 2 dyed items that may include wool yarn, cotton towel or bandana, or silk scarf. Dye availability will depend on Mother Nature, but may include either goldenrod, river birch, walnut, pokeberry, Maximillian sunflower, or bur marigold. Wear or bring clothes, shoes, bug repellant, and sun block appropriate for working outside. Contact Lexi at wingstemfarm@gmail.com for more information and to RSVP by August 25th or September 1st

Add on a morning session (9:30 to 11:30) to learn plant identification and processing, and preparing your fabric/yarn (scouring, types of fiber, mordanting.) This portion is not hands-on (mordanting takes several days) but will be informational. Bring a bag lunch if attending morning and afternoon.
